The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced significant changes to the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET UG) starting in 2025. These modifications aim to enhance the examination's efficiency and better align it with students' academic interests and career goals.

Key Changes in CUET UG 2025:

  1. Reduction in Subjects: The number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37, comprising 23 domain subjects and 13 languages. Discontinued subjects include various foreign languages and specific domain subjects like Entrepreneurship and Legal Studies. Admissions for these removed subjects will now be based on General Aptitude Test scores.

  2. Flexibility in Subject Selection: Candidates can now select up to five subjects, reduced from the previous six, and have the flexibility to choose subjects irrespective of their Class 12 specialization.

  3. Examination Mode: The exam will be conducted exclusively in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format to enhance efficiency and transparency in the evaluation process.

  4. Exam Duration and Structure: Each subject's exam will have a duration of 60 minutes, and all questions are now compulsory, eliminating the previous provision for optional questions.
